SUJATA'S DEATH-2004
WIFE KILLED IN GREED OF 20 LAKH RUPEES
Suman Sharma, a resident of Bhilwara is Sujata's elder sister. After Sujata's death, we decided to honor Suman because she fought to get justice for Sujata. 18 year old Sujata was married to Kamalkant Sharma. She was his third wife. Kamalkant and his mom were well educated and used to run a school. His first marriage was to a girl who was a resident of Beawar. With the disgusting greed to get the insurance money of his first wife, he took lives of 3 women. Immediately after the marriage, he used to take a 20 lakh insurance from National Insurance for a year. 4 months after his first marriage, he poisoned his wife's juice and killed her. He cremated her silently and even her parents were not aware of his deeds. Similarly, four months after his second wedding he killed his pregnant wife for insurance. He used to immediately get married within a year of his previous wife's death. He never used to disclose
the reason of death of his wives to their family members. Even the wife's parents never took it seriously that their daughter is dead within a year of her marriage, or why she died. They never suspected him and hence never complained to police. When Sujata was married to him, she was worried that she might suffer the same fate that his previous two wives suffered. When Sujata was 3 months pregnant, her mother in law fed her the poisened juice. Sujata might never have imagined that anybody could take her life for the greed of 20 lakh rupees. After feeding her the poisoned juice, they choked her with a pillow and she was half dead already in the house. In order to show off to their neighbours, they took her in a car to private hospital, but in reality they simply drove the car on streets to waste time and waited for her to die. After she was dead, they got her home and grieved about it. When Suajta's parents learnt about her death, they demanded medical inspection which proved that she died due to poison.
For 20 days after her death, Sujata's parents pressurised police to take action but in vain. Finally, some of Sujata's relatives came to our organisation and told us the whole story. We submitted a request to the police superintendent who then finally started the legal proceedings. We later learnt that Sujata's husband had paid 1 lakh rupees to police for not taking any legal action against him. We pressurized police and strengthened the case. Eventually, the son and mother were sentenced to lifetime imprisonment for murdering 3 women. Sujata's husband accepted that he killed his 3 wives due to greed for money. Even though Sujata is not between us today, her family supported our organization to get justice for her, and hence we decided to honor them during this occasion.
